"Really hard because my hands are freezing and hard to give money," De Leon said.
At Marin On Ice, in San Rafael, plans are already underway to keep the ice from cracking in the cold overnight. For the first time in five years the owner will actually raise the temperature of the ice chiller.
"If the ice gets too cold it turns brittle and it can tear itself apart so we want to ensure the ice stays malleable so it does not break," said Marin On Ice owner Connor Spence.

At Goodman Building Supply, there has been a run on insulation to keep pipes from bursting. "As it gets cold your pipes and your plumbing is in danger and this is the best protection for it," said worker Taylor McDonald. "A lot of restocking is happening here. In the garden center, plant protectors are also selling fast," said worker Taylor McDonald.
"I am watering my citrus. I am fertilizing very lightly. And I am covering it up," Mill Valley resident Rosann Davi told ABC7 News.
