60s rocker Country Joe McDonald gears up for last club gigs in Bay Area

BERKELEY, Calif. (KGO) -- Rock and roll history is being made in the East Bay. ABC7 News caught up with Country Joe McDonald on Thursday.

The 60s rocker and Navy veteran, who's perhaps best known for his appearance at Woodstock, is doing his last club gigs on Thursday and Friday night. And while he won't be playing clubs, Country Joe says there is one gig he'd really like to play.

"It would be nice to be playing Hardly Strictly Bluegrass," he said. "What am I chopped liver? They never asked me to play, I'm ready. If you're watching this show, KGO can tell you how to get in touch with Country Joe, and I'm ready."
