Walnut Creek bar closing its doors after series of public complaints

WALNUT CREEK, Calif. (KGO) -- A longtime Walnut Creek bar is closing for good after dealing with a series of public complaints. Police say no other bar in town has more calls for service than Crogan's Sports Bar and Grill.

They include disorderly conduct, assault of a police officer and public intoxication. Last summer, a man was shot and killed shortly after leaving the bar.

Diane Valentine operates a yoga studio next door. "It's been a real nuisance. I've had my sign broken and just the shouting and the yelling and beer bottles in front of my studio," she said.

City officials recently ordered the bar to stop serving alcohol at midnight, instead of 2 a.m.

The bar's owners say they're heartbroken and feel forced to close after 39 years. They sent out a Facebook invite for a farewell party this Sunday.
