SAN FRANCISCO (KGO) -- The fallout of the election isn't just at the White House as now it appears the position of San Francisco's Nancy Pelosi as the top Democrat in congress may be in real trouble.
The Democrats in Washington put off their leadership vote until after Thanksgiving. While Pelosi is downplaying the significance of that development, others are saying it's time for change.

She's been the U.S. House Democratic Leader, including speaker for 14 years, but now it seems Pelosi's role is in jeopardy. "It's not clear who the leadership of this party is at this point," St. Mary's College professor Steve Woolpert said. "I think there really is a fundamental polarization going on in this country and the Democratic party has to decide what it wants to do to rebuild a winning coalition."
The potential shakeup at the top comes after Democrats were soundly beaten in last week's election from Hillary Clinton on down, a result some say Pelosi should've seen coming. "Leader Pelosi has been a stalwart and a great leader for our party," Contra Costa Democratic Central Committee member Jerome Pandell
But others like Pandell told ABC7 News, he still sees the San Francisco Democrat as the best choice to lead the party into the future, especially during a Trump administration. "I understand the inkling and interest some members may have in making a leadership change, she listens," Pandell said.

The Democrats now have their leadership vote set for November 30, so challengers to Pelosi have two weeks to step up.
