Man killed in accident involving big rig on I-680 in Fremont

FREMONT, Calif. (KGO) -- The driver of a Honda was killed after an accident involving a big rig occurred on northbound I-680 just before South Mission in Fremont Wednesday morning.

CHP officials said the big rig was parked on the shoulder and for unknown reasons the Honda jerked onto the shoulder and hit the rear of the big rig.

Officials said there were no other passengers inside the car with the San Jose man, and no other injuries have been reported at this time.

The right lane of northbound I-680 was closed after the accident, but has since reopened.
