SANTA CLARA, Calif. (KGO) -- It's the beginning of a very serious and potentially record-breaking fire season in California.

Just north of Sacramento, thousands of people have been evacuated as a fire burns in Butte County. Seventeen structures have burned, including 10 homes, and the fire is just 35 percent contained.
Governor Brown has already declared a state of emergency in the area.
There are more than a dozen active wildfires burning across California. Over 5,000 firefighters are on the fire lines and it's only the beginning.
