SAN FRANCISCO (KGO) -- Images show what San Francisco's first ever floating fire station will look like.

The 16,000-square-foot, two-story extension will sit behind Firehouse 35 along the Embarcadero.

City planners said the new addition will be climate change proof and will also be seismically-safe.

Construction is expected to begin in 2019 on Treasure Island and the $40 million firehouse should be completed in 2021.
