NB Hwy 242, Willow Pass Road in Concord reopened following police activity, authorities say

CONCORD, Calif. -- Northbound lanes of state Highway 242 and Willow Pass Road in Concord have reopened Wednesday after a person experiencing a mental health crisis positioned themself to jump into freeway traffic near the Willow Pass Road underpass, according to the California Highway Patrol.

A CHP spokesperson said the situation was resolved and the person was taken for a mental health examination.

TAKE ACTION: Get help with mental health issues

The northbound directions of the freeway were closed around 7:30 a.m., as was Willow Pass Road between Market Street and Diamond Boulevard.

All lanes were reopened at approximately 11:10 a.m.
