Around 2:45 p.m., Fremont officers pursued a car CHP says had been reported stolen and was associated with an armed robbery.

The chase ended on eastbound 84, west of Newark Boulevard.
"The suspect, who was in possession of a firearm at the time of the incident, sustained fatal injuries," CHP said.
Further details of what happened leading up to the shooting have not been released.
All lanes, eastbound and westbound are currently shut down as of 8 p.m. Police are telling people to avoid the area.

CHP says they will be working with Fremont Police Department and the Alameda District Attorney's Office in the investigation.
ABC7 News spoke with a witness, asking to be identified only as Domonique. She shared cell phone video, which showed the tense moments after she said a man was shot by police.
She described noticing a car being pulled over.
"All of a sudden, I see the police officer walk up and the guy just hopped out the car," Domonique recalled. "So, I seen the officer and he started running to the side. It looked like he tripped a little bit. He turned around and shot the guy."
"I heard about two shots and then the guy just dropped down," she shared.
In the video shared with ABC7 News, the suspect is seen on ground.

A second video, recorded by Domonique, showed responding officers jumping the median and drawing their weapons.
"I'm not sure if there was someone else in the vehicle they were waiting for," she told ABC7 News. "But it was just a lot of guns drawn."
ABC7 News has reached out to Fremont Police for a comment on the deadly shooting, but have not heard back.
