Car crash sparks fast-moving brush fire on I-580 over Altamont Pass

LIVERMORE, Calif. -- The Flynn Fire burning near Altamont in Alameda County is holding at 120 acres and 40 percent containment, CAL FIRE said at 7:40 p.m. on Tuesday.

The vegetation fire is burning near North Flynn Road and Interstate 580.


CAL FIRE has been working in conjunction with Alameda County Fire to stop the blaze which broke out on steep terrain and amid windy conditions.

SKY7 was over the fire where a burned-out car could be seen on the shoulder of the freeway. It is believed that a car crash may have sparked the blaze.

People are asked to avoid the area.
