'Trump's declared war on California': Gubernatorial candidate Gavin Newsom speaks after voting in Larkspur

LARKSPUR, Calif. (KGO) -- California gubernatorial candidate Gavin Newsom answered questions after casting his vote in Larkspur on Election Day.

Newsom voted in Larkspur with his wife and four kids by his side. His sister and brother-in-law also tagged along for the big day.

After what Newsom described as a somewhat sleepless night, he cast his vote and stuck around to answer some questions.

With his young son in his arms, he spoke sternly about his potential new job as Governor of California.

"So much is at stake," he said. "I don't think it's an exaggeration to say Trump's declared war on California."

Newsom is strongly favored in a state where the GOP has 3.8 million fewer registered voters.

He has pledged to continue the combative stance toward President Donald Trump and push for universal health care.
