Driver dies after van plunges into Oakland Estuary

Search crews located a car submerged in an estuary in Oakland after reports came in of a crash Sunday morning, according to officials.
OAKLAND, Calif. (KGO) -- A van plunged off a surface street in Alameda into the waters of the Oakland Estuary shortly after 8 a.m. and the driver did not survive, an Alameda County Sheriff's Office spokesman said Sunday.
The Sheriff's Office's dive team assisted the Oakland Fire Department in the recovery of the vehicle, said Sgt. Ray Kelly. There was only one person in the van, Kelly said. [Ads /] The driver did not survive, according to Kelly.
