LAS VEGAS (KGO) -- The Oakland Raiders' move to Las Vegas in time for the 2020 NFL season takes another step in that direction with Monday's groundbreaking ceremony for the planned 65,000-seat, $1.9 billion domed stadium near the Las Vegas Strip.

Published reports say the ceremony is part of an agreement reached with the Las Vegas Stadium Authority Board.

Last week, the board gave the Raiders' contractor permission to begin pre-construction work, which includes the ground breaking.

The Raiders are limited to pre-construction work until the team finalizes an agreement with Las Vegas officials.
