OAKLAND, Calif. (KGO) -- Oakland Unified School District wants to stop paying AC Transit more than $2 million a year to give rides to students. Concerned parents packed a meeting Wednesday to find out what happens next.

Students and parents made passionate pleas to keep AC transit buses rolling to three Oakland Hills schools. For 20 years state funding helped the district pay for extra buses for Montera Middle School, Community Day and Skyline high schools.

"We have changed our approach to this and believe now we really can't afford to pay them we don't really have those dollars anymore," said John Sasaski of the district.
