Athletics, Raiders, Warriors donate to Ghost Ship fire efforts

OAKLAND, Calif. (KGO) -- Bay Area sports teams have shown their generosity in Oakland's time of need. A fire ripped through a warehouse known as the Ghost Ship in Oakland in the early hours of Saturday. The blaze killed at least nine people and officials are still trying to pull more victims from the wreckage.

The Oakland Athletics announced that they would be matching donations to the victims and families affected by the Ghost Ship warehouse fire.

Shortly after, the Silver and Black joined the effort pledging the same amount to help victims and their families during this difficult time.

Golden State Warriors coach Steve Kerr gave a statement on the tragedy. The Warriors will be donating $50,000 for relief efforts.

The San Francisco Giants are urging their fans to join in the A's effort to raise funds for victims.


The fund set up for victims of the Ghost Ship fire has raised over $70,000 since being published on YouCaring.com earlier Saturday, nearing their $100,000 goal.
