Pittsburg brush fire that burned 18+ acres started from homeless encampment, firefighters say

PITTSBURG, Calif. (KGO) -- A brush fire in threatened homes in Pittsburg Tuesday evening.

The fire burned near West Leland Road and Rancho Medanos Junior High School.

Crews say it started at a homeless encampment.

Firefighters say at one point, the fire burned into backyards and homes were threatened. More than 75 firefighters from Con Fire and CAL FIRE were able to get control of the flames.
