The Chronicle reports PG&E has been testing soil samples at the sites of two plants that were destroyed in the 1906 earthquake. The facilities manufactured a fuel similar to natural gas.
One plant was located along Fillmore and Alhamabra streets. The other was about a block away along Bay Street.
This summer, PG&E will look for chemical contamination in the bay floor.
Wednesday night's meeting will be held at Fort Mason's Building A from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m.
