SAN FRANCISCO (KGO) -- Saturday marks 120 years since the Great Earthquake changed San Francisco forever.

This year, there will be a special addition to the memorial: a restored firetruck from 1928.

A restored 1928 Klieber Light Wagon firetruck is pictured in San Francisco.

You're looking at the last 1928 Klieber Light Wagon. It's the only one we know of that still exists.

A grandson of the engine's manufacturer gave ABC7 Eyewitness News a rare insight into how San Franciscans supported each other during the disaster.

"It was an incredible time for everybody back then during the '06 earthquake, because the fire engulfed the whole city. And my grandfather was a wagon and buggy builder back then, and at the time he lent all his wagons and buggies to the city of San Francisco, to the people," said Paul Kleiber III, grandson of Paul Kleiber.

Residents will gather to honor the lives and communities lost in the quake on Saturday at 4:30 p.m.

You can find the public gathering at Lotta Foundation on the corner of Geary and Market Streets.
