The CHP said a 47-year-old woman and 14-year-old boy were killed, both San Jose residents.
The Santa Clara County Medical Examiner's Office have not identified the crash victims.
The driver of the pickup truck was taken to the hospital with serious injuries.
The CHP said he is a 39-year-old man from Florida.
It's not clear whether he was under the influence.
Traffic on northbound SR 85 was diverted onto SR 87 for a few hours.
As of of 8:04 p.m., northbound lanes of SR 85 reopened.
