Over 500lbs of illegal fireworks seized from San Leandro home, sheriff's office says

SAN LEANDRO, Calif. (KGO) -- One week away from the Fourth of July and authorities have seized a large stash of illegal fireworks in San Leandro.

Alameda County Sheriff's Office detectives made the discovery during the arrest of a wanted parolee Friday.

They found 546 pounds of commercial-grade fireworks inside the suspect's home.

The suspect was arrested for possession of illegal fireworks and a parole violation.



The sheriff's office is using the arrest to remind residents that all fireworks are illegal in unincorporated Alameda County.
