Airline security fee increase goes into effect

Monday, July 21, 2014
On Monday, airline tickets are going to cost more, but the airlines won't get the money.

The Transportation Security Administration fees are going up to $5.60 for all flights. The current fee is $2.50 for a non-stop flight or $5 for a connecting flight.

Congress approved the increase back in December to help reduce the deficit. The new fees are expected to raise more than $12.5 billion per year.
