BART service resumes between Hayward, Fremont after equipment problem on tracks, agency says

HAYWARD, Calif. -- BART service has been restored between the Hayward and Fremont stations in the East Bay after an equipment problem on the tracks forced an hours-long closure at two stations in the area.

The transit agency issued an alert shortly after 1:30 p.m. about the problem.

The South Hayward and Union City stations are between the Hayward and Fremont ones and were closed while crews worked on the equipment problem, BART spokesperson Anna Duckworth said.

She said southbound trains were turning around at the Hayward station, while trains were also still running between the Fremont and Berryessa stations.



Duckworth said the equipment problem was "preventing our operations control center from routing trains in the area."
