The Franciscan Friars of the Renewal recently started the project, which they're calling "The Burrito Brothers."
Father Daniel Williamson says the goal is to offer dignity and care through fresh, homemade meals.
"We try to do something beautiful for the people, show them they have dignity and we care about them. So we try to make a nice meal. Home-cooked burritos, nachos, lemonade, whatever they want. And it's just to help them know we're here for them."
The ministry began preparing fresh food every Tuesday and Thursday a couple of weeks ago. Volunteers visit different encampments and streets each day, bringing meals directly to people in need.
The group says the effort is rooted in Christianity's call to feed the hungry and care for those on the margins.
