Quaylin Wesley was read felony charges, including two counts of residential burglary and six counts of sex abuse of a minor.
According to court documents, the victim is an 11-year-old girl who was attending an overnight camp at UC Berkeley. A university spokesperson said the camp is not run by the university, though the operator is not identified in court filings and the camp is not named.

Court documents detail the disturbing acts. Authorities allege Wesley, a camp staffer, entered a dorm room twice overnight Saturday and assaulted the child multiple times. Court documents indicate another girl was in the room during the incidents but was not harmed.
Police said officers provided immediate safety measures and support services for the child.
UC Berkeley sent alerts to the campus community about the incident, which has left some shaken and raised concerns about safety for children participating in programs on university grounds.
"Especially for a young kid, that's going to be really traumatizing for them," said Francis Wang, a UC employee.
Wesley did not enter a plea during his initial court appearance and does not currently have an attorney. A judge said the public defender's office cannot represent him because of an undisclosed conflict of interest.
The court is now seeking representation for Wesley through the Bar Association. He is scheduled to return to court Thursday, when a determination is expected on legal counsel.
