LOS ANGELES -- There are new mobsters in town, and they have four legs, whiskers and an obsession with tuna.

Disney and Pixar shared a first look at the feline-run underbelly of Venice, releasing the teaser trailer and poster for their upcoming original animated adventure, "Gatto."

The studios also announced major star power for the film's voice cast. Mark Ruffalo ("Poor Things," "The Avengers") will voice Nero, a scrappy black cat facing an existential crisis, while Laurence Fishburne ("The Matrix" trilogy, "Boyz n the Hood") lends his commanding vocals to Rocco, a ruthless feline mob boss.

The teaser trailer shows the duo during a funny interrogation scene that puts a cat twist on a classic mafia interrogation.

"Please, Rocco, it wasn't me!" a hostage cat pleads in the footage.

"Start yapping," Rocco commands. "Where is the tuna?"

After the hostage insists they have the wrong cat, Nero steps in with a threat before getting instantly derailed by his own animal instincts. "Tell the truth, or things are gonna get pretty... whoa... pretty ugly," Nero says, his tough-guy persona melting away as he becomes completely distracted by a dangling light pull chain.

According to the film's logline, "Gatto" follows Nero after years of navigating the winding canals of Venice, Italy. Deep in debt to the local feline mob boss, Rocco, Nero begins to question his life choices. This identity crisis forces him into an unlikely friendship that might finally help him find his true purpose-unless the city gets the better of him first.

The film reunites director Enrico Casarosa and producer Andrea Warren, the filmmaking team behind Pixar's Oscar-nominated 2021 feature, "Luca."

"Gatto" is out in theaters March 5, 2027.

Disney is the parent company of Pixar and this station.
