LIVERMORE, Calif. (KGO) -- All lanes of eastbound I-580 in Livermore have reopened after a car fire shut down all lanes, causing a massive backup at the start of the evening commute.

SKY7 is over the incident, which showed commuters stuck in the traffic jam that stretched several miles.

This follows a crash that sparked a grass fire earlier in the day on eastbound I-580 at the I-205 split.

Crews quickly knocked down the fire, but the freeway was closed for several hours.
