Makers of Commodore 64 releasing new flip phone designed to discourage doom scrolling

SAN FRANCISCO (KGO) -- A new digital detox tool will be available for pre-order later this month.

One company is releasing an old-school flip phone designed to discourage doomscrolling. It is called the Commodore Callback.

The new Commodore Callback is available for pre-order June 30. Here it is pictured in its "Basic Beige" color set.

Commodore, known for its Commodore 64 computer/video game console, says it uses patent-pending technology to block social media apps, web browsers and email clients.

You can make calls and text, but there is no touchscreen. So, you'd have to get used to a physical keyboard again.



Pre-orders for the Callback open on June 30. The price starts around $500.
