Man drowns at San Francisco's Aquatic Park Cove, officials say

SAN FRANCISCO -- A person died in the waters off San Francisco on Monday night, according to the Fire Department.

San Francisco Fire received a 911 call at about 8 p.m. reporting a male calling for help in the water at Aquatic Park Cove.

Rescue swimmers were deployed and began a search at the last known location of the person. After 30 minutes, he was discovered by members of the Heavy Rescue 2 scuba divers, the Fire Department said.

The person was taken to shore and medical personnel tried to revive him, but he was declared dead at the scene.

The identity of the person is being withheld at this time.
