SAN JOSE, Calif. (KGO) -- There's a growing memorial in San Jose for a teenager who was killed in a car crash early Saturday morning.

Investigators believe two cars may have been racing at the time.

Video taken by a neighbor shows the moments after police say one of the cars crashed into a light pole at Hillsdale and Meridian avenues.

An image from video taken by a neighbor shows the moments after two cars crashed near a Rite Aid in San Jose, Calif. on Feb. 28, 2015.

Both drivers left the scene.

Friends of the victim, who was a passenger in one of the cars, gathered on Saturday night to light candles and reflect on their loss.

"He was smart, he had a lot going for him," said friend Matthew Paz. "He could've been a mechanic, an engineer."

Two other teenagers went to the hospital with serious injuries.

Police say alcohol was a factor in the crash.
