SAN FRANCISCO -- A motorcyclist died after he collided with a car and then was run over by a second vehicle Friday afternoon on the San Francisco-Oakland Bay Bridge, the California Highway Patrol said.

The collision occurred about 2:11 p.m. on eastbound Interstate Highway 80 just west of the bridge's toll plaza, the CHP said.

The 30-year-old male rider was thrown from his Triumph motorcycle in the collision with a Toyota Corolla, according to the highway patrol.

The motorcyclist landed in one of the lanes of traffic and was subsequently struck by another vehicle that didn't stop and fled the scene, the CHP said. The Toyota driver remained at the scene and was cooperating with police.

The motorcyclist was pronounced dead about 2:35 p.m. His identity and cause of death will be released by the Alameda County Coroner's Office, the CHP said.
