OAKLAND, Calif. (KGO) -- Federal, state, and local authorities staged a massive raid on a Black Muslim Temple on 27th Street in Oakland. Police arrested at least one person and are looking for several others on dozens of felony charges.

Authorities raided the temple, executing warrants for individuals connected to the temple that they say had obtained government contracts for security work with bogus credentials.

A search of the building, which is a spinoff of the defunct Your Black Muslim Bakery, began before dawn when Oakland police, along with state and federal agents, descended on the property.

Multiple warrants were served, but only one in Oakland.

"We can confirm that the Oakland police tactical team did assist the Alameda County District Attorney's Inspector's Office, serving a search warrant in Oakland," said OPD spokesperson Officer Johnna Watson. "This was the 800 block of 27th Street. We were assisting, looking for evidence in an active investigation. We can't show the details of that investigation with you. We can confirm that we did not make any arrests at this particular location. This was a search for evidentiary information only."

Your Black Muslim Bakery was a bakery opened by Yusef Bey in 1968. It was later linked to widespread physical and sexual abuse, intimidation, welfare fraud, and murder.

After Bey's death in 2003, the bakery fell into debt and declared bankruptcy in 2006.

Both the Alameda County District Attorney's Office and the state department of consumer affairs have been investigating Black Muslim Temple for more than six months.
