Partial solar eclipse to be visible in the Bay Area

If the weather cooperates, the Bay Area should get a good view of a partial solar eclipse today. It will begin just before 2 p.m. We should see nearly half of the sun covered by the moon at the eclipse's' peak about 3:15 p.m. It will end at 4:30.

A warning if you want to watch the eclipse do not look directly at the sun -- that will cause permanent damage to your eyes. And sunglasses won't protest your eyes either. Instead, you can go to a view party.
