PG&E works to fix gas line, restore power after SF big rig crash

SAN FRANCISCO (KGO) -- PG&E crews are working to fix a gas line that was sheared off by a big rig slamming into it in San Francisco. The truck only stopped after it hit a power pole at De Haro and 20th streets in the Portrero Hill neighborhood.

Crews are working to restore power to 1,500 customers in the neighborhood. According to PG&E's website, more than 4,000 customers are without power right now.

The big rig's air brakes gave out around 9:30 a.m. Tuesday, causing it to roll down the hill.

The San Francisco Fire Department ordered a temporary shelter in place but that's been lifted. The gas line was turned off around 9:50 a.m.

Firefighters say the big rig transports cars and was waiting at the top of the hill for a tow truck.



Amazingly, no one was hurt. The area will be shut down for at least four hours for repairs.
