All lanes reopened after hours-long police standoff on Bay Bridge; subject in custody, CHP says

SAN FRANCISCO (KGO) -- An hours-long police standoff that prompted I-80 lane closures at the Bay Bridge near Treasure Island Wednesday afternoon has been resolved, California Highway Patrol said.

All lanes have been reopened as of 7:30 pm.



At one point, all eastbound lanes were closed as well as the #1 and #5 westbound lanes.

CHP said the standoff was with a man who was climbing on the bridge since at least 2:30 p.m.



Officers say he was seen on both the upper and lower decks, but climbed under the lower deck around 4 p.m.

Police confirmed they took a subject into custody Wednesday evening.
