WASHINGTON (KGO) -- Rep. Ro Khanna of California held a roundtable discussion Tuesday with survivors of Jeffrey Epstein as King Charles made a historic visit to the White House and Congress.

Khanna said he used the king's visit as an opportunity to hear directly from survivors and to amplify what he described as their demands for action from lawmakers. The meeting came amid continuing scrutiny of the king's brother, Prince Andrew, over his alleged ties to Epstein. Some of the women have said the king's brother assaulted them.

The roundtable took place Tuesday morning in Washington at the same time King Charles was visiting President Trump.

Khanna and participants discussed steps they say Congress should take, as well as what they described as failures by lawmakers to adequately address trafficking and sexual assault.

In attendance were Epstein survivors, along with the brother and sister-in-law of the late Virginia Giuffre, the woman who accused Epstein and former Prince Andrew of sexual abuse.

Khanna said he asked King Charles to meet with the survivors during his visit but said the king declined.

"I thought the king owed that to the survivors, given his brother's serious allegations of abuse, and I thought it would have been an incredible moment and statement to show that it doesn't matter how much wealth you have, how much power you have. No human being is dispensable and the survivors deserve justice. He unfortunately declined that request," Khanna said.

Khanna said he met with the British ambassador and suggested that the king acknowledge Epstein survivors during his address to Congress on Tuesday. He said he hoped the king would follow through with that acknowledgment.

Khanna said the ultimate goal of the roundtable and the ongoing call to action is prosecution and investigations into those who abused, assaulted or trafficked girls, as well as the release of all related files.
