SAN FRANCISCO (KGO) -- The San Francisco Police Department is defending its actions against a one-legged man, who they say was combative and resisted arrest.

This video shows 42-year-old Musa Fudge struggling with officers on Market Street near the Twitter headquarters on Aug. 4. Police say he was raising wooden sticks at officers and refused to back down.

"Officers did not place him under arrest. He was detained for a mental health detention and an ambulance was called to take him to the hospital for a mental health evaluation," San Francisco police spokesperson Officer Grace Gatpandan said.

This was the second time he's gotten into a scuffle with police. In June, Fudge was arrested for assault on a police officer and two other felony charges.
