SAN JOSE, Calif. -- Four men were shot in San Jose early Sunday morning and one later died from his injuries at a hospital, according to the San Jose Police Department.

San Jose police officers responded to the 2200 block of Lincoln Avenue at about 3 a.m. after receiving reports of gunshots in the area, but officers did not find any victims.

Officers were then notified that four men had shown up to a hospital with gunshot injuries that varied in degree of seriousness, SJPD's Media Unit said in a statement on X at about 11:45 a.m.

SJPD said in an update at about 2 p.m. that one victim had succumbed to his injuries and was pronounced dead at the hospital. The police department said more information would be released later Sunday.

Police were investigating the scene Sunday and asked the public to avoid Lincoln Avenue from Franquette Avenue to Curtner Avenue, which was expected to be closed for an unknown amount of time.
