ABC7 News was in Richmond as the suspect was taken to the police station. He's accused of killing his ex-girlfriend in front of her two children Tuesday.

Police finished their interviews with Lawyer Dushan McBride and escorted him into a van to be taken to jail Wednesday afternoon.

"I ain't do nothing," McBride said. "They've got the wrong man."

Police are confident they have the right man as the crime was captured on surveillance video Tuesday morning.

Outrage from the community over the killing of 29-year-old Rashanda Franklin helped lead police to a Sacramento fast food restaurant where McBride was arrested.

Police say McBride followed his former girlfriend as she tried to drop her two young children off at daycare Tuesday. They say he blocked her car with his own, got out and shot her in the chest while she was trapped in the diver's seat of her car.

Two of her three children, both under the age of ten, witnessed the killing at 29th Street and Rheem Avenue.

Officers received a ton of tips from the community, leading them to Sacramento Wednesday.

"He was definitely on the run and he was definitely aware that he was wanted," said Lt. Felix Tan of the Richmond police. "Now why was he in Sacramento, I don't have that information."

With the help of the U.S. Marshal's Service, Richmond police made the arrest without incident. We've also confirmed that McBride and Franklin had a history of domestic violence and police say that will be roped into the murder case.

He also has a violent criminal record, but Tan would not elaborate on specific charges.
