The San Francisco Fire Department told ABC7 News just before 5:30 p.m. on Wednesday, the patient rescued has been downgraded to a stable condition. Not critical, as first reported, the official said.
The fire happened at a four-story building on the 1600 block of Leavenworth St. near Lynch St.

Officials said the call of the fire came in at 1:38 p.m. and was contained an hour later.
The fire victim was taken to the hospital with critical injuries, officials said.
Video sent to ABC7 News shows black smoke bellowing to the sky as crews try to contain the blaze.
Crews say the damage affected several units on the third and fourth floors.

SF fire officials also say 20 people have been displaced.
The American Red Cross is assisting the residents.
The cause of the fire is under investigation.
