SAN FRANCISCO (KGO) -- San Francisco supervisors are set to decide whether to move ahead with a plan to ask voters to approve a local personal income tax.
Supporters say the money would pay for transportation and health services, if the Trump administration cuts federal funding to sanctuary cities.

But the idea faces a few hurdles.
California tax code bans local income taxes, o the legislature would have to pass a measure amending the law.

Governor Jerry Brown would have to sign off on the measure. Only then would the issue be put on the ballot for San Francisco voters to decide.
