Man accused of attempting to kidnap girl in San Francisco arrested

SAN FRANCISCO -- A man accused of attempting to kidnap a girl in San Francisco's West Portal neighborhood was arrested Wednesday.

The attempted kidnapping occurred at about 5 p.m. when a girl was walking in the first block of Forest Side Avenue and a man got out of a vehicle and then allegedly grabbed her to get her in his vehicle, according to police.

The girl screamed and several people came to help her. The man drove off in his vehicle, which went south on Forest Side Avenue, according to police.

No other information from police was released Thursday morning other than that an arrest was made.
