There was a party on board with a 1970s theme celebrating the plane's first flight in 1970 from San Francisco to Honolulu.

Aviation packed the sold out flight.
"It's a special place in my heart and I wasn't born in the 70s, I want to see what it was like to fly back in the 70s," said Vincent Forni, from San Francisco.
The 747 debuted in 1968, it changed air travel, it could handle long trips and could hold more people. But today's planes are more efficient so the 747 has to go.

This plane will likely be parked in an airline graveyard near the Mojave Desert.
Now, this is not the last 747 flight ever. It's only the last 747 flight on United from SFO. The plane will still be used for cargo flights and is in use at some other airlines.
ABC7's Wayne Freedman will be on board, follow him on Twitter and Facebook for more on the historic final flight.
