Ammonia spill in San Jose 'under control,' fire officials say

SAN JOSE, Calif. (KGO) -- San Jose hazmat crews responded to an ammonia spill Friday evening that blocked off streets and prompted residents in the area to shelter in place.

As of 8 p.m. Friday, the San Jose Fire Department said the spill was "under control."

The spill occurred on the 400 block of Eggo Way off Wooster Avenue, not far from Highway 101, in San Jose.

According to fire officials, one person was "assessed on scene" for injuries and later released.



No other injuries were reported.
