A 16-inch water main broke, which is believed to have caused the leak in the gas line, according to the San Francisco Fire Department. Residents and businesses in a one-block radius of the intersection were evacuated following the leak, which was reported by the fire department at 6:35 a.m.

San Francisco Public Utilities Commission crews were at the scene making assessments and repairs. No injuries or property damage were reported, and less than 100 people were impacted as of mid-morning Wednesday, fire officials said.
Residents who are experiencing gas outages in the area can call PG&E at (800) 743-5000.
Those who were evacuated Wednesday have been allowed to return to their homes, SFFD says.
