Another vehicle, traveling on the eastbound side of the freeway was struck by a stray bullet, but no one was injured, he said.

CHP units were dispatched to the scene at 4:04 p.m. All lanes of westbound 580 were closed for investigation of the shooting from about 4:55 p.m. to 5:37 p.m., Barclay said.

A black Mercedes SUV that was originally reported to have stopped on the freeway near the shooting scene was unrelated, Barclay said.
