RELATED: Third sexual battery at San Jose State in one week
San Jose students headed to class after learning of several sexual battery attacks on campus, three of them happening in the past week. A campus official tells ABC7 News two of the cases have the same suspect.
"It goes beyond just disrespect to women and their bodies which is far too common. I was sexually assaulted recently," said Morgan Sonnenfeld who survived an off campus attack. That experience helps her relate to these victims.
"Truly accepting that it's not your fault, it's hard and it's painful then it's also trying to learn how to trust your environment," she continued.
The latest attack happened Wednesday at about 1 p.m. Police say a male suspect sexually battered a female on the stairwell in Duncan hall then ran up the stairs.
"I'll be more alert about the stairs," said Holly Hancock, an SJSU student. "And I also carry a can of pepper spray."
The suspect is described as a male in his 20s with black spiky hair wearing a dark gray hooded sweatshirt, dark pants and a navy backpack.
When asked if she felt safe, SJSU student Kim Pham said, "Sometimes when I see a lot of police cars going around. I feel safe when I see them."
A man holding a skateboard is a suspect in another attack Monday afternoon. Detectives say he followed a female into the student union and sexually battered her.
Many of the students we talked to learned of the recent attacks by text alerts or emails to their smart phones.
There was another attack at Sweeney Hall last Wednesday. Police say a male suspect sexually battered a female victim then ran upstairs. He was also wearing dark clothing and a backpack.
