May the 4th was going to be a special day at Tomorrow Montessori preschool and kindergarten -- it's their annual Star Wars party, but instead of a celebration, it was sadness. The school's owner, Joyce Brown, arrived just after 6 a.m. on Thursday.
Montessori school ransacked in San Jose
"The amount of destruction and devastation that went down in this room, it's so senseless," said Joyce Brown, Tomorrow Montessori.
The school was vandalized, rooms ransacked, furniture destroyed, windows broken.
"It's like a hurricane hit. They have destroyed diapers, creams, they have strewn hot sauce across carpet," said Brown.

The party was cancelled, the school closed down for cleanup.
"I've tried my best to keep it from the students but they did show up yesterday in their little costumes for their Star Wars party. It broke my heart," said Brown.
Brown says their security cameras were down that morning because they're being upgraded. She did get a glimpse of a person leaving her building.
"As I was on the phone with 911, I heard the little bell go off. And that's how I knew someone was in our building," said Brown.
Brown says it looked like a homeless woman, possibly from a nearby encampment, an issue her school has had before.

While this may be a dark moment for the school a force for good has awakened. A community is responding. Robyn Janitz has a child at Tomorrow Montessori.
"We've had tons of participation and donations from families that had kids here 10-12 years ago. An amazing response and that makes me look at the good in all of this sadness," said Robyn Janitz, parent.
The school is hoping to re-open by Tuesday, if you'd like to help a GoFundMe page has been set up.
