UNION CITY, Calif. (KGO) -- A lockdown was lifted in a Union City neighborhood after a barricaded suspect surrendered peacefully Thursday morning.

The Union City Police Department had told residents on the 1800 block of Baylor Street and the 1800 Block of Tulane to shelter in place until they received further notice from officers.

Nearby roadways were closed off, and drivers were told to find alternate routes as police negotiated with the suspect.

The suspect surrendered peacefully shortly before noon, and the lockdown was lifted.
