Stubborn dog rescues itself from icy cliff in Utah

PROVO, Utah (KGO) -- A fiercely independent dog had to be rescued from a narrow ledge above a 50-foot cliff in Utah.

Sheriff's deputies in Utah County climbed up the rock covered in snow and ice to rescue "Mary."

They tried to lure her down with food, but she ate it before snapping at her rescuers. When night fell, the team called off the rescue, leaving her with some food and hand warmers.

By the next day, "Mary" had somehow made it down on her own, albeit with a few cuts on her paws.
