Some new ideas for how to use your old iPhone

NEW YORK (KGO) -- The iPhone 6 comes out on Friday. So now the question for those of you planning to buy the new phone is: What to do with your old one?

Some may decide sell or donate their old iPhone. But here are few great ways to put your old phone to good use.

One idea is to set it up as a surveillance camera. There is an app called "Presence" that fires up the phone when it detects motion and sends you alerts with pictures and video.

Another function could be to run the "Cloud Baby Monitor." That allows you to record video of your little one sleeping or play a lullaby.

The old iPhone can also simply be used as a permanent music station.
